VENUS, the goddess of love, is frequently represented on republic and Imperial coins [IVLIA, CORNELIA, VIBRA, ERVC and CONSIDIA all have this reverse]  She is also represented on the coins of Considus Nonianus struck between B.C. 74-50, and her temple shown, the worship having been introduced from Eryx in Sicily.  The epithets upon Imperial coins are Caelestis first occuring under Elagabalus, Felix and Genetrix first under Hadrian and Victrix first under Faustina II.
