Plinthophoric

Sometime after 190 BC, the coinage system of the cities of Caria was completely reorganized, with the primary denomination being the drachm, struck on a standard (c. 3.0 grams or a little heavier) called'plinthophoric' for the square incuse around the reverse type (plinthos = brick or ingot).  The standard for Hemidrachms was 1.5 grams or a little lighter.
