Patraus or Patreus, the son of Preugenes,
grandson of Agenor, the conqueror and general
of the Iones, occupied, with his companions in
arms, Aroe in Achaia, and gave his name to the
city afterwards colony of Patrae, but so that
the more ancient appellation of Aroe was not
altogether abolished, but was often united to
the more recent name. -- See Patrae.
