Mlynarczyk

Mlynarczyk, J. Alexandrian and Alexandria-Influenced Mould-Made Lamps of the Hellenistic Period. BAR 677. (Oxford, 1997).

This study presents and examines the available data on mold-made terracotta lamps manufactured and/or used in Alexandria in the 3rd to 1st century BC. Mlynarczyk divides the lamps into twenty-eight types and discusses distribution, fabric, manufacturing centers, shape and decoration, and dating. She concludes that some of the types were unique to Alexandria, while others have their counterparts in Cyprus, Syro-Palestine, Asia Minor and Greece, with particular links indicated between Egypt and Palestine.
