CRISPINA (Bruttia), daughter of Bruttius Praesens, a man of consular rank. Considered a woman of great beauty, she was married to the Emperor Commodus in A.D.177. A few years after his accession to the throne, Commodus divorced Crispina on account of her adultery and, having being exiled to Capreae, she was put to death by strangulation on his orders (A.D.183).

Silver and bronze coins of Crispina are common; gold coins and bronze medallions are very rare.
On Latin coins her titles are CRISPINA AVG(VSTA) IMP COMMODI AVG. Some coins depict her with Commodus.
The rarest reverses amongst the coins struck for Crispina are:-
GOLD: CERES, DIS GENITALIBVS, DIS CONIVGALIBVS, PVDICITIA and VENVS FELIX.
AE MEDALLIONS: Diana standing, holding a bow and arrow (see DIANA); COMMODVS and CRISPINA, with reverse of CONCORDIA; VOTA PVBLICA.
SESTERTIUS: ROMAE AETERNAE.
