His reign, however, was very unpopular, and this enabled Zeno to re-enter the city in A.D.476. Basiliscus was dethroned and sent, together with Zenonis , his wife and Marcus, his son, to Cucusus in Cappadocia where all three were executed.
His coins, in all metals, are rare. Some of them also bear the name, but not the portrait, of his son Marcus, whom he had raised to the rank of Augustus.
