NOT IN RIC

UNLISTED OBVERSE LEGEND AND BUST TYPE - G8 l. RIC lists for this issue only obv. legend CRISPVS NOB CAESAR and bust type B4 (p. 432). If the pellet in exergue is worn out and this coin actually belongs to the next issue [ASIS•], it is still unlisted bust type for obv. legend 5b (p. 433). Note that obverse is a mirror image but not all letters are retrograde (for example "S" and "P"). It is hard to believe that such gross error could be made by a professional engraver, so this coin is probably an ancient imitation. Should be listed before SISCIA 57.

NOTES

Weight 2.96 g; diameter 19 mm. Coin sold on eBay in May 2011 for USD 175.
