Buonasera signor Deflorio, sono un nuovo membro della community lamoneta.it,la devo ringraziare innanzitutto per il forum da lei creato sui falsi della misterday e delle altre società,infatti ho potuto identificare una moneta in mio possesso proprio grazie alla sua guida,il motivo che la sto disturbando e che ho in mio possesso una moneta greca di Mitridate VI di cui lei aveva già cercato di identificare l'autenticità, l'ho confrontata con quella da lei publicata,ed ho notato che nella mia non ci sono segni di ossidazione sulla parte del viso e nell'altro lato accanto alla testa del cervo c'è un piccolo rilievo come lei sicuramente noterà,purtroppo ho tentato di allegare le foto sul sito ma non me lo ha fatto fare,e per questo che glieli ho allegati in questa email ,ho fatto la prova della calamita ,ma la moneta non ci si attacca,inoltre ho pesato la moneta ed il peso è di 5 grammi,se per piacere può darmi una risposta. Misura del diametro 25 mm.
p.s. le sarei grato se potesse postare i risultati del suo parere sul sito.

Egregio Lettore,
effettivamente mi sono già occupato nel passato di questa tipologia monetale (v. link). Come già ho avuto modo di affermare, la monetazione greca non rientra nel campo di mia pertinenza e il fatto di non avere accesso ai manuali sulla monetazione del Ponto, alla quale l'esemplare in esame appartiene, costituisce un serio limite alle mie argomentazioni. Pur con queste premesse riprendo in mano il tema anche al fine di verificare l'eventuale disponibilità in rete di elementi aggiuntivi rispetto al passato per un utile confronto tra la moneta in esame (figura 1) e gli originali antichi. Di seguito sottopongo alla sua attenzione i risultati a cui sono pervenuto:

R. All'interno di una corona d'edera, in alto ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ4 sotto cervo al pascolo a sinistra; nel campo, a sinistra, stella sopra falce di luna; sotto monogrammo di Pergamo5; nel campo a destra, sopra la data ΓΚΣ(o ΒΚΣ)6; sotto monogramma. In basso, su due righe, ΜΙΘΡΑΔΑΤΟΥ/ΕΥΠΑΤΟΡΟΣ.

Durante il regno di Mitridate VI furono emessi vari tipi di tetradrammi; tra questi il tipo più prossimo alla moneta di figura 1 presentava le caratteristiche di seguito schematizzate:

Il tipo del rovescio di figura 2 è quanto di più simile al tipo di figura 1 di cui si trovi traccia nel web. Veniamo alle conclusioni:
  1. I tetradrammi autentici battuti sotto Mitridate VI erano monete d'argento del peso di circa 16g e del diametro di 30-33mm, riconoscibili per la chioma fluente e selvaggia del sovrano nel dritto e il complicato disegno del rovescio.
  2. In epoca moderna le suddette monete sono state spesso oggetto di replica; di seguito un paio di esempi, diversi tra loro, reperiti nel web:

Sold as a replica on ebay August 2008.
  3. Costituiscono un caso a parte, per stile e uniformità di produzione, le repliche italiane, probabile risultato di qualche campagna pubblicitaria di cui si è smarrita la traccia. La moneta di figura 1, come l'altra a suo tempo esaminata, fanno parte delle "repliche italiane", battute su tondelli amagnetici del diametro di 25 mm e del peso di circa 5g. Altri esempi di repliche italiane sono presenti in rete agli indirizzi:

Alla luce di quanto detto non vi sono dubbi che la moneta di figura 1 sia una replica moderna, come tale priva di valore numismatico.

Si evince dalla tabella che i tetradrammi autentici di Mitridate VI presenti nei link di cui sopra possedevano le seguenti caratteristiche fisiche: peso 16g. o poco più, diametro 30-33mm e asse di conio ad ore 12. Da ciò una prima grande differenza tra gli originali e la replica di figura 1 (peso c. 5g, diametro 13mm, asse di conio 12h, materiale ignoto).
(2) La classificazione Weber 3-1 4789 si riferisce esclusivamente al tetradrammo datato ΓΚΣ, come quello di fig. 2 e non agli altri datati ΒΚΣ o ΕΚΣ.
(3) Mitridate VI, Eupatore (il Grande), re del Ponto e del Bosforo - (120÷63) a. C. - Traggo da un commento su una moneta di tipologia simile a quella di fig. 2 (v. link) le seguenti note: "Mitridate è il monarca ellenistico per eccellenza, la sua carriera si svolse sotto la spinta di ambizioni da megalomane che lo portarono all'assassinio di familiari e seguaci e ad imprese belliche avventurose contro forze preponderanti. Il suo ritratto idealizzato, con lo sguardo fisso di sfida e la chioma selvaggia e fluente, vuole imitare gli dei ma, nella sua forma più estrema, è la personificazione dell'isteria in senso dionisiaco. La corona d'edera lungo il bordo del rovescio rimarca il legame con la sfera divina ma anche la connessione con la monetazione cistoforica che costituiva il circolante dell'area. Riprendo dal sito: http://www.ancienthistory.com/intro.shtml la seguente scheda sintetica biografica su Mitridate VI: "i suoi primi anni da re li passò da fuggiasco all'interno del Ponto (regione in prossimità del Mar Nero) mentre sua madre Laodice governava. Nel 111, imprigionò sua madre, uccise suo fratello e assunse il controllo del regno. Espanse il dominio sull'Asia e si paragonò ad Alessandro. Fu considerato uno dei più fieri oppositori dei Romani. In una battaglia nei pressi di Zela, nel 67 a. C. il suo esercito uccise 7,000 soldati romani. Alla fine fu sconfitto da Pompeo il Grande nel 66 a. C. Stava ancora complottando contro Roma quando fu ucciso nel 63 a.C. Mandante dell'omicidio fu suo figlio Farnace II. La sua monetazione abbondante in metallo pregiato (oro e argento) servì a finanziare le numerose campagne militari.
(4) La leggenda del rovescio, reca il nome del sovrano, ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΜΙΘΡΑΔΑΤΟΥ ΕΥΠΑΤΟΡΟ (Re Mitridate Eupatore) su tre righe.
(5) La stella sopra la falce di luna è l'emblema della dinastia (v. Di Franco Panvini Rosati - La moneta greca e romana). Si vorrà notare come nella moneta in esame il monogramma di Pergamo  è obliterato da un'imperfezione del conio (tuttavia, se si prende in esame la moneta del tutto identica esaminata anni addietro, si potrà osservare come il moderno incisore si sia facilitato il compito sostituendo al complicato monogramma di Pergamo la stella già presente sopra la falce di luna: ).
(6) Si è detto che le tre lettere ΓΚΣ esprimono la data secondo l'era pontica. Questa veniva computata a partire dall'ottobre del 298 a. C. o dal 297 (v. Di Franco Panvini Rosati - La moneta greca e romana). Secondo il sito http://www.acsearch.info/record.html?id=84891 a ΓΚΣ (anno 223 dell'era pontica) corrisponde l'anno 75/74 a. C.. Si noterà anche che nella replica di figura 1 il monogramma  sottostante la data è stato sostituito dalle lettere K, ulteriore semplificazione introdotta dal moderno incisore; inoltre il mese in esergo (la lettera Δ in figura 2) non è presente nella replica.
