• il forum "Lamoneta" sostiene che il graffio sul rovescio, sopra la testa del cavallo, mette a nudo un metallo troppo vivo per essere antico; d'altra parte la moneta è priva della patina antica che costituirebbe l'unica garanzia di autenticità per monete fuse e non coniate come quella in esame.
  
• il forum "RROME" sostiene che la patina della moneta sarebbe stata verosimilmente prodotta artificialmente con l'acido o con l'interramento.

Note:

(1) Triente (bronzo). Il peso standard dell'aes grave per l'emissione in argomento (v. nota4) è basato, secondo Crawford (pag. 136), su un asse del peso di una libbra (c. 334 grammi, da qui il peso standard del triente risulta di 111 grammi, ossia un terzo di asse librale). L'asse librale (e i suoi sottomultipli) sono prodotti per fusione e non per percussione. L'unità monetaria, l'asse, si divide in dodici once. La moneta di figura, un triente, vale quattro once, da qui il segno del valore rappresentato da altrettanti globetti.
