Le invio in allegato le foto della moneta, molto usurata, in cui chiedo gentilmente la sua consulenza. La moneta in questione mi pare pertinente a quelle da lei già esaminate recentemente che compaiono nel suo sito al n° 018 e 041 Qui di seguito riporto i dati caratteristici:

Descrizione sommaria (sono indicate in rosso le parti della leggenda usurate o comunque non più leggibili):
D. DIVVS AVGVSTVS PATER2 in senso orario a partire da sinistra in basso. Testa di Augusto, radiata a sinistra.
R. S C a sinistra e a destra nel campo. In esergo PROVIDENT. Altare chiuso con doppia porta pannellata, in cima ornamenti incerti.3

Concludo osservando che la moneta presenta caratteristiche fisiche e di stile confrontabili con quelle dei conî d'epoca. Confermo infine che la sua moneta ha lo stesso categorico delle monete da me esaminate ai numeri 18 e 41 dell'indice.

Dalla tabella si evince che le caratteristiche fisiche dell'asse di figura comunicate dal lettore (8,6g, 27mm, 6h) sono comparabili con quelle dei conî d'epoca.
(2) DIVVS AVGVSTVS PATER. Il Mattingly sostiene che la moneta sia stata coniata da Tiberio, probabilmente nell'ultimo periodo del suo regno, durato dal 14 al 37 d. C., per onorare la memoria del padre adottivo, l'imperatore Ottaviano Augusto. Di qui la parola "PATER" che allude tuttavia più probabilmente al titolo di "PATER PATRIAE" di cui il defunto si fregiava in vita. Il dritto della moneta riporta verosimilmente l'immagine di Augusto rappresentata nella statua che Tiberio e Livia avevano eretto in suo onore nei pressi del teatro Marcello. La testa radiata dell'imperatore, mutuata dal culto del dio Sole dei re d'Egitto e di Siria, comincia ora ad apparire sulle monete imperiali. Si ricorderà in proposito che lo stesso Augusto aveva eretto due obelischi al Sole, il 10 a. C., al Circo e al Campo Marzio.
(3) L'altare costituisce un riferimento diretto al culto del sovrano deificato. La leggenda "PROVIDENT" (providentia, previdenza) in esergo va intesa come allusione alla saggezza e alla vista lunga dello scomparso. Il rovescio della moneta rappresenta il recinto e la porta d'accesso pannellata ad un altare. Più che fiammelle, gli oggetti rappresentati in alto a d. e a s. del recinto, sono probabilmente corni d'altare.
