NEOΠOΛITΩN (or NEOΠOΛITHΣ?),

SNG ANS 360-361, Sambon 471, HN Italy 579
Posted September 2019

Note: This specimen appears to be an obverse die match to an example that appeared in the
Nomos Obolos Webauction 13 (February 2019), lot #32. The Nomos specimen is from
the Vineyard Collection. It is ex Malloy, March 1999, lot #30. The reverse dies used on
my example and the Nomos specimen are very similar, but they are not an exact match.

diademed head of nymph wearing long earring,
bucranium (bull's head)/
...OΠOΛIT...(?), man-faced bull walking, crowned
by Nike flying above, banker's mark(?)
SNG ANS ---, SNG Cop. ---, BMC ---, Sambon ---,
HN Italy 579, Extremely Rare (R3),
ex Lindgren collection
Posted November 2015 (partially attributed)
Fully attributed January 2021

Note: The bucranium symbol that appears on the obverse of this issue is Extremely Rare (R3).
It is missing from all of the older (circa pre-2000) major reference books, including
SNG ANS and Sambon. As of January 2021, there is only one example listed in
acsearch.com. This specimen is exceptionally nice for the type, and it is probably
one of the finest known. It is a pedigreed coin from the Lindgren collection.
