Perseus was the suggested founder of Tarsos. Apollo here is often called Apollo Lykeios in error. For the correct mythology please take a look at the article 'Apollo Lykeios - or rather not' in the thread 'Mythological interesting coins'

very rare, VF, nice green patina

This is one of the nicest depictions of the - a bit boring - issues of Viminacium. Decius here looks like Philipp I and the long legend without the cognomen TRAIANVS too indicate a very early date may be before his acception of the Augustus title in Sept./Oct. 249.

LAN erroneous for LAM, but there are some open questions too: KOI seems to be erroneous for KAI, magistrate APOLLONITOS couldn't be found until now.

PRIAPOS was born by Aphrodite in Lampsakos/Mysia. Therefore Lampsakos was the centre of warshipping of Priapos. Here his depiction was more like Dionysos who was said to be his father.

EF, expressive portrait!

This standard is often called donkey-standard, but this is an error
already by Cohen. Really it is a DRACO, a Dacian war-standard, which
produced caused by wind a frightening noise.
