Proclaimed as co-emperor in 402 as an infant by his father Arcadius. In 408 at age 7, he became sole emperor of the East. Actual power initially was wielded first by his praetorian praefect, then in 414 his older sister Pulcheria was proclaimed augusta and assumed practical power. Many border stresses and incursions. *The description in Sear says it is Roma. But Roma is never depicted with a foot resting on a prow. Constantinople does, and it must be a commemoration of the naval battle of Chrysopolis, not far from there, won by Constantine the Great against his rival Licinius. Ginolerhino
