Pick writes: The head is surely unbearded and seems to be female. To name him for sure is not possible, but possibly it is the head of Nike who must have played the role of an eponymous goddess.

I think the coin is rarer than R8 because the pic in HrHJ (2015) is taken von the AMNG plate.

A remarkable coin:
(1) rev. undoubtedly from Nikopolis
(2) obv. undoubtedly Severus Alexander (who never has struck coins in Nikopolis!)
(3) but Severus Alexander has not issued coins in Nikopolis
(4) rev. Greek legend, obv. Latin legend
(5) Latin legends occur only in Deultum (for Moesia)
So this is a hybrid of an obv. from Deultum and a rev. from Nikopolis, an ancient imitation!

Nikopolis, Epeiros

Obv: A K M AY ANTΩNINOC, laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind.
Rev: NEIKO[ΠO]ΛEⲰC, emperor on horseback stepping right, raising right hand.
22 mm, 5.06 gms

SNG Cop 79 (as Caracalla).

Interesting coin. The portrait on the coin in SNG Cop 79 definitely appears to be Caracalla. However on my coin the features more closely resemble that of Elagabalus.
