RIC I, 38; C.57; von Kaenel 628 (this specimen!)
R2; about VF
One of my favorite coins due to its pedigree:
ex Glandining & Co. Sale Nr. 2, London, 15.7.1029, Nr.666 (depicted)
(ex coll. Moritz Simon, Berlin)
ex Cahn, Auktion 68, Frankfurt, 26.11.1930, Nr. 232 (depicted)
ex M&M, Basel
ex Dr. Brandt, Klassische Münzen, Tübingen, February 2002

from Curtis Clay: Herbert Cahn, one of the greatest
German coin houses, had to flee from the Nazis to Switzerland

1 NEMESIS, Goddess of rightful distribution
2 CADUCEUS, holding caduceus to snake = welfare
3 The interpretation of N.'s gesture, holding fold of the robe to the chin as spitting in the neck and symbol for happiness, is doubtful. Rossbach thinks it may be a gesture of modesty!
This all stands for the politics of Claudius!

From Forum Ancient Coins, thanks!

This coin is from a hoard of ca. 175 denarii of Augustus and Tiberius reportly found in the Indus valley in c. AD 1990. These imitations were produced in India and were used side by side with official issues (CNG). Some of them were struck, others cast. This one is cast.

sev_alex_RIC127_limes_denar.jpg
Severus Alexander, cf. RIC 127 (limes denarius)Severus Alexander, AD 222-235
AE - Limes denarius, 2.9g, 19.5mm
obv. IMP CM AVR SEV ALEXAND AVG
Bust, draped and cuirassed, laureate, r.
rev. AEQVI - TAS AVG
Aequitas, stg. l., holding scales and cornucopiae
cf. RIC IV/2, 127; cf. C.9
VF, gorgeous frosty green patina

Limes denarii resemble silver denarii, but they are AEs. They occur at the border of the Roman Empire most often in Severan times. Their function is not known for sure.
A new scientific opinon (Vienna) suggests that only bronzes are limes falsa never denarii! If this is true this coin is only an ancient forgery!

This type contains some legend errors: POLET(WN) instead of POLEIT(WN), ICTI instead of ICTR (probably blocked letter) and (NO) instead of (ON). Its the same type of the outer coin of No. 8.36.5.12 and needs its own number

Thracia, Olbia, Koson, RPC I 1701BKoson, died 29 BC, king of Thracia
AV - Stater, 8.44g, 18.87mm, 0°
probably restrike by the Dacians after the death of Brutus in 42 BC
obv. The Roman consul L. Junius Brutus togated walking l., accompanied by two

rev. Eagle with open wings, standing on sceptre l., holding wreath in r. claw
ref. Iliescu 1; RPC I, 1701B; BMCRR II p.475, 50
EF

This edition without the BR monogram is of distinct coarser style than the type with monogram. Referring to new spectral-analytical researches the gold of these type contains Sn and Sb, is not refined, but equal to the alluvial gold found in the rivers of Transsylvania like the gold of the bracelets from Sarmizegetusa. Probably it is a restrike of the Dacians after the death of Brutus in the battle of Philippi. The removing of the monogram is a strong argument against the theory that the monogram means BA(silews) and speaks for BR meaning Brutus. After his death it was not opportune to put his name on the coins.

RESTITVTOR LIBERTATIS means: "He has eliminated all his competitors." (Vogt, Orbis, p.162)

This Solidus I have seldom seen. The first Solidi were struck end of AD 310 in Trier, then in Arles. Ticinum started in autumn AD 315 with the issue of these new denomination. This type therefore is one of the earliest Solidi struck in Italy for Constantine. Interesting is its size: With 19mm it is smaller than the later Solidi. And with its thickness too it reminds a bit on the older Aurei!

From Forum Ancient Coins, thanks!

Salus was the Roman goddess of health. According to Strack III, p. 129, the idea behind the type is that the safety of the state is dependent on the health of the emperor. "For that reason Salus holds the rudder of Fortuna in some of these types, as an indication that the fate of the empire rests in her hands."

Errett Bishop (1928-1983), an American mathematician, known for the development of a constructive Analysis

The most possible of various interpretations:
Greek DAPHNE = laurel, so 'The Constantinian laurel' as a symbol of victory. The victory in question is most likely to be that of Chrysopolis, where Constantine had defeated Licinius in AD 324.

From Forum Ancient Coins, thanks!

The rev. seems to honour the Legio I Minerva. The interesting reverse legend MINER FAVTR stands for Minerva Fautrix, the favouring (partisan) Minerva. Perhaps the message is that Minerva offered Postumus wisdom, military power (note the spear and shield), and peace (note the branch) (FAC)
