Eastern Mint Denarii of Severus Alexander

Coin assignment is given in the title according to Volume III of Roman Silver Coins, 2nd edition. Obverse legend abbreviation is identical to that in my sestertii album.
I have organized the coins in accordance to The Coins of the Roman Empire in the BMC, v. VI. The first minted coins, Issue I, were minted in early 222 CE and have the obverse legend IMP SEV ALEXAND AVG and a portrait of the boy emperor. Issue II was minted later in 222 CE and replaces the obverse legend with IMP C M AVR SEV ALEXAND AVG. The six reverse types are P M TR P COS Fortuna and Mars, and AEQUTAS AVG, LIBERTAS AVG, SALVS PUBLICA and VICTORIA AVG. Typically Issue I, and II have a star on the reverse right or left field but this is not always the case for Issue I or II. Issue II reproduces the same reverses as Issue I and has some P M TR COS P P reverses without star. For the year 223 CE Issue III, Liberalitas and Issue IV denarii were minted.

The average sestertii weight in my collection is 20.91 g with a standard deviation of +/- 3.00 g. The variation in weight is largely due to variation in flan thickness. Sestertius die outer diameter is 29 mm
