Sherd Subset: Byzantine #1
|
c. 6th century AD
31.75 cm (w) x 20 cm (h)
(12.5” x 7.87”)
Description:
Upper portion of a large amphora, recovered from the Black Sea, off the coast of the village of Koblevo (Kobleve) in southern Ukraine. I previously had this attributed as Greek, but some cursory research leads me to think it may be early Byzantine. Thoughts/help appreciated.
