BCC LT104 Lead Tessera Artemis or Torch
|
Lead Tessera
Late Roman 1st-4th cent.
Obv: Cult statue of Artemis?
Artemis is a very common theme in this
present assemblage. However, the lack
of clear attributes on this highly worn specimen,
such as the stags normally found to left and
right of the figure, leave open the possiblity
that a different type was intended, such as a
torch or other device.
Rev: Blank.
Pb 11 x 9 x 1.25mm. 0.83gm.
