Hieron II * Poseidon and Trident, Syracuse, Bronze drachm
 
[b]Obv[/b]: Poseidon, bearded and left-facing, diademed, or hair bound with kelp-garland(?), locks hanging lose over ears and neck.
[b]Rev[/b]: Ornate Trident centered between two dolphins in upper left and right fields, both  vertical and oriented towards the bottom; ornate patterned swirls suggesting waves between central and outermost prongs of the trident, left and right.
  Below, [b]ΙΕΡ[/b] to the left of the trident staff, and [b]Ω[NΟΣ][/b] to the right.
  ( Spelling out the name of the issuing King – ΙΕΡΩNΟΣ - (Hieron II) ).
