Jordan, Machaerus
Machaerus is in central Jordan, not far from the Dead Sea. It's one of Herod the Great's hilltop desert fortresses. Not as well-known or impressive as Masada perhaps, but Machaerus has it's own claim to fame: according to Josephus, Machaerus is where John the Baptist was imprisoned and executed.
