This coin is actually Manuel II, not John VIII. Note the B sigla to the left of the emperor and backwards B to his right. These are not found on John VIII coinage. Also, its weight indicates is a 1/4 hyperpyron (half-stavraton), not 1/2 hyperpyron. Very nice coin!
