CILICIA. Augusta. Trebonianus Gallus. Æ 30. A.D. 252/253 (year 233 of the era of Augusta). Obv: AVT.K.ΓOVT-PIΓAΛΛΩCCEB. Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust right; 2 countermarks before bust. Rev: AVΓ-OV-CTA-NΩN, ETΓΛC in ex. Emperor in quadriga, seen from front, looking left, right hand raised, standard in left hand. Ref: Sear 4343; BMC 13. Axis: 360°. Weight: 21.16 g. Note: Ziegler (1993) notes 24 coins with this date. CM(1): X in circular punch, 5.5 mm. Howgego 692 (5 pcs). Note: Likely not a denominational mark since Roman numerals were not in use. CM(2): Oblong shape, incuse, c. 5 x 14 mm. Howgego -. Note: Howgego lists no oblong-shaped, incuse countermarks, although they exist on other coins of the city. Collection Automan.
