Macrinus Denarius Quadriga208 viewsFrom my own Black Cabinet:
Macrinus Denarius, unlisted in RIC, cast.
The rev. inscription PONTIF MAX TRP II COS II PP isn't known for this very rare type (only with TRP II COS PP). The piece is evidently cast, and I thought it was a Limesfalsum, but Curtis Clay examined the coin himself and is convinced that these coins (he saw several specimens showing up since the early 90's) are all modern reproductions, however proving that this type exists, since they are obviously casts from a genuine original.
