Caracalla143 viewsAnother non-existent fantasy. This time Caracalla is the victim.
This obverse legend ANTONINVS AVG PONT TR P IIII was used on one single gold coin coin of Caracalla and one single silver coin, and for nobody else. The gold Aureus had Victory on the reverse, the silver denarius had the bust of Geta.
In addition, it is very unlikely that he would have used the Pudicitia reverse for his coinage as it is a reverse generally used for womens' coins. And a ponce he was not !
This object is a fake.

Fig 6 is the false coin - 7.73g, including mount
The reverse is from the same dies and a false aureus of Etruscilla (BOC 13/1, 1988). Puuting the counterfeit in a mount adds a nice touch.

Herennia Etruscilla Pudicitia Antoninianus55 viewsFAKE Herennia Etruscilla Antoninianus of
251-252 AD
Rome mint.
Obv: HER ESTRVSCILLA AVG, diademed and draped bust right on crescent (there appears to be the tiny end of a crescent just to the left of the G).
Rev: PVDICITA AVG, Pudicitia seated left, holding sceptre and drawing veil from her face.
RIC 59b, RSC 19; Sear 9495.
Lipanoff studio, Bulgaria.
1. Portrait is too old and ugly for the pretty Herennia Etruscilla
2. The bust should be on a clear crescent extending to the left and right
3. On the reverse, Pudicitia's hand is just in the air, she should be holding her veil and drawing it from her face
4. Same reverse die as another example here on the fakes gallery and e.g. ForgeryNetwork.com no. 7323 and no. 8220.helvetica
