Pertinax sestertius Providentia362 viewsFrom my own Black Cabinet:
Pertinax sestertius, RIC 22, Providentia reverse.
A coin which puzzled me for a long time since it has that "soft" looks but no foolproof signs of casting and some seemingly convincing patina stains. But Curtis Clay had the coin in hand and says it is an older cast, and that the patina comes off rather easily because it isn't real. It is, however, a cast from a genuine original, the dies are known.
