Part of a fantastic 'die chain: the reverse die also paired with Diocletian obverse, with that obverse paired with both a tetrarchic Carthage reverse and a Jovian reverse: see following thread https://www.forumancientcoins.com/board/index.php?topic=123332

OBVERSE DIE is already known on a series of obvious fakes, published in the Bulletin for Counterfeits in 1986; in Dr. Prokopov's Modern Counterfeits and Replicas, Sofia 2003, p. 70, no. 177; and in a series of specimens in silver, copper, and lead in Forvm's own Fake Reports. An example of the published fake coin type with the same obverse die is provided below.

The top coin was withdrawn from auction because the auction house owner thinks that it is a transfer die fake. He thinks that the withdrawn coin has exactly the same marks as the bottom coin, which he believes was the host which was used then to make transfer dies. The marks clearly are not die damage or flaws. The bottom coin sold for 36,000 EUR in 2015. Considering the high value, it is certainly possible that the forger made only one fake.

Cast fake of a rare aureus, not in RIC. This is one of at least three cast copies that have been made. http://www.forumancientcoins.com/notinric/6rom-1_gal.html ). The seed coin, presumed to be genuine is in the black frame. The centering and shape of the cast copies were modified to make each appear unique (as all ancient coins should be). A raised line on the cast copy outside the border of dots, indicated by the red arrows, shows the edge of the genuine coin on the cast copy.
