Severus Alexander73 viewsTwo fakes from identical dies with identical damage. The top one sold to an English dealer and innocently resold in August 2013; the bottom one offered in auction by a reputable German dealer in October 2013. The second example was already online when the first one was sold, so they are not one and the same coin.

Severus Alexander36 viewsModern cast copy of Severus Alexander As, RIC 644

IMP ALEXANDER PIVS AVG, laureate head right, slight drapery on left shoulder.
PROVIDENTIA AVG, Providentia standing left by modius, holding corn-ears and cornucopiae.
S-C across centre fields.
RIC 644; Sear 8097; Cohen 504.

1) The face does not look like Severus Alexander.
2) The N of the reverse legend has a rounded upper "angle" instead of a pointed angle as we would write an N.
3) The last letter on the reverse should be a G with a clear downstroke, not a C.
4) The modius at her feet is supposed to hold at least one corn-ear but this appears to have two turrets. Perhaps the person who made it did not realise what he was supposed to be copying and thought it was a tower.
5) The folds of her drapery on her left arm and the base of the cornucopiae, where it is resting in her arm, are all wrong and greatly simplified.
6) The drapery which is hanging down from that arm is also overly simplified.

"Found at the old camp ground in Powell River, BC, while metal detecting. It wasn't very deep or dirty and had a silk cord fashioned as a necklace."

Examples of genuine versions of this type with the S-C across the centre fields, or across the upper fields or across the lower fields can be seen here

Good style, surely made based on genuine coin. Weight and diameter also right.

Coin sold on ebay, with lots of dirt on it. After cleaning it shows clear cast marks. Very sharp edges (visible especially on reverse). Seam clearly visible at the bottom of obverse picture.
