Alexandria - Antoninus Pius86 viewsA cast fake Alexandria tetradrachm of Antoninus Pius, imitating RPC 13937 (Dattari 2258). It has an obvious casting seam, soapy features and is underweight. Additionally, it is cast in the wrong metal, and appears to have no silver content.

Antoninos Ephesos156 viewsCast fake . IONIA. Ephesus. Caracalla (197-217 A.D.). AE 35 , Ephesus Mint, ca.197-217 A.D. Laureate cuirassed bust right, Greek legend around; Reverse: Two temples in three-quarter view towards each other within which are statutes of Artemis Leukophrene and Artemis Ephesia.
Helvetica Commented: Massive numbers of these fakes are coming out of Eastern Europe, often sold by unscrupulous sellers in Germany who know damn well that they are fakes. (Fake: emperor's name incorrect; the city name of Magnesia has been changed to Newkoron). See another example and the detailled explanation on wildwinds' Caracalla page under "Magnesia ad Meandrum Schultz 169 FAKE" quadrans
