Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt, Cleopatra VII with Ptolemy XV, 35 - 34 B.C.
The hair style on this coin is rare. Mrkholm breaks the Cleopatra tetradrachms into classes based on hairstyle (ANSMN 20, 1975). A VF Year Three example described as 'Unikum' and 35/34 B.C. with this hair-style sold for $1400 in a Lanz sale. This coin is dated Year 17, though if one accepts the logic of Lanz quoting Mrkholm, this coin is the Cleopatra VII from the equivalant year to the Lanz example, 35/34 B.C.
