Stauracius, December 803 - 2 October 811 A.D.

Joint rule with Nicephorus I (his father), December 803 - 25 July 811 A.D.
Stauracius ruled jointly with his father, Nicephorus I. At the Battle of Pliska, the Bulgarian Khan, Krum, surprised and slew his father along with a large portion of the Byzantine army. Stauracius escaped to Constantinople but was mortally wounded. He surrendered his throne to his brother-in-law, Michael Rhangabe, retired to a monastery, and died soon after.
