The Roman Senate, hoping to rid themselves of the harsh Emperor Maximinus, concurred and declared the father and son emperors. The Gordians did not, however, have an army. They stood no chance when challenged by a legion led by Capellianus, the Governor of Numidia. Gordian II was killed in battle. Hearing the news Gordian I committed suicide. |
