Eudocia was selected by Pulcheria to wed her brother, Theodosius II. By 444 A.D., however, Pulcheria had her exiled to Jerusalem (perhaps due to adultery). There, Eudocia spent the remainder of her life in religious works and was buried in St Stephen, the church that she founded. She was later made a saint whose image appears in icons.
