Agrippa spent much of his boyhood at the imperial court in Rome. His friend the emperor Caligula bestowed the former territories of his uncle Philip and Herod Antipas. Claudius later bestowed Judaea. It was this Herod that had James, the brother of John, executed (Acts 12:1-2) and imprisoned Peter (Acts 12:3-5). He was a very popular ruler. |
