Byzantine Empire, Lead Bulla Seal, Saint George, Alexios, c. 11th Century A.D.
|Byzantine| |Seals|, |Byzantine| |Empire,| |Lead| |Bulla| |Seal,| |Saint| |George,| |Alexios,| |c.| |11th| |Century| |A.D.|, The first 'theta' on the obverse is actually a symbol for "the Saint" derived from a ligature of A inside O abbreviating the Greek, Ho AΓIOΣ. Not many Greek names start with ALE, so this is perhaps Alexandros or, more common and likely by this time, Alexios.
