Constantine the Great, Early 307 - 22 May 337 A.D.
In 326, Constantine the Great traveled to Rome to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his accession to power. He founded Constantinople at Byzantium as the new capital of the Roman Empire. He reorganized the Roman army in smaller units classified into three grades: palatini, (imperial escort armies); comitatenses, (forces based in frontier provinces) and limitanei (auxilia border troops).RL98405.
