|United| |Kingdom|, |British| |West| |Africa,| |Edward| |VIII,| |1936|, Due to his abdication, no coins of King Edward VIII were released in the United Kingdom, but some coins were struck for overseas Colonies. Three different denominations were struck and circulated in British West Africa. They are the penny, halfpenny and tenth penny, all were struck with holes in the middle, as the local dress had no pockets and the hole allowed them to be worn on a string.
