Empire of Nicaea, c. 1204 - 1261 A.D.
|Anonymous| |Nicaea|, |Empire| |of| |Nicaea,| |c.| |1204| |-| |1261| |A.D.|, Nicaea, in northwestern Anatolia, was the capital city of the Empire of Nicaea, formed following the Fourth Crusade in 1204, until the recapture of Constantinople by the Byzantines in 1261. The mint was transferred from Nicaea to Magnesia around 1210/11 or soon after.
