Seleukid Kingdom, Seleukos II Kallinikos, 246 - 226 B.C.

Newell believed the "late and poor style" suggests Seleucus IV. Houghton and Lorber note the trident behind the obverse head, visible on a better specimen, identifies the head as Poseidon. They also note an Afyon museum specimen and close typological relationship to Houghton-Lorber 738, as well as the oblate flan and irregular die axis suggest they both share the same mint and are both issues of Seleucus II.
