This coin was originally struck with the reverse legend ΕΠI APΞIΕPΕΩΣ AΛΕΞANΔPOY KΛΕΩNOΣ ΣAPΔIANOY but using an elaborate set of ring-shaped countermark dies the obverse and reverse legends were restruck, the reverse indicating the new magistrate.
