Byzantine Empire, Focas, 23 November 602 - 5 October 610 A.D.
In 608, A.D., Heraclius the Elder, exarch of Africa, and his son (also named Heraclius) revolted against Phocas, whose regime in Constantinople had become unpopular and violent. Syria and Palaestina Prima joined the revolt. On 4 October 610, Heraclius arrived at Constantinople with his fleet. Phocas was killed by a mob on the following day. BZ93519.
