Decebalus fled but, followed by the Roman cavalry, committed suicide rather than face capture. On 11 Aug 106 A.D., the south-eastern part of Dacia (modern Romania) was made the Roman province Dacia. Veterans of the legions were given land in the new province for their service in the Roman army.
