Coins from this eastern mint have Latin legends and the usual Rome mint AE denominations but are differentiated by large portraits, crowded legends with serifs, a variable die axis, and a flat or even convex reverse. There are almost no finds of these coins from Western Europe. All the coins attributed by BMCRE to Lugdunum are now assigned to this eastern mint.RB90705. Bronze sestertius, RIC II-1 498 (Eastern mint (Thrace?)); RPC II 501(Thrace); BMCRE II 309 (Lugdunum); BnF III 323 (Bithynia); Cahn Bithynia 1 (Bithynia), F, well centered, scratches, Eastern (Perinthus?) mint, weight 24.724g, maximum diameter 35.0mm, die axis 180o, 80 - 81 A.D., after the deification of Vespasian; obverse IMP T CAES DIVI VESP F AVG P M TR P P P COS VIII, laureate head right; reverse PAX AVGVST (the peace of the Emperor), Pax standing left, olive branch downward in right hand, scepter in left hand, S - C (senatus consulto) flanking low at sides; SOLD
