|Titus|, |Titus,| |24| |June| |79| |-| |13| |September| |81| |A.D.|, There were a number of disasters during Titus' reign. In 79, Vesuvius erupted destroying Pompey and other nearby towns. In 80, a large fire in Rome lasted three days and three nights; the original Pantheon and many other buildings were destroyed. Also, Rome was hit by a plague worse than any before. With the affection of a father for his people, Tiberius funded and arranged rebuilding efforts in Campania and in Rome, including donating the ornaments of his palace for the damaged temples and public buildings. For the sick he provided medicines and made sacrifices to the gods.
