Apollonis, Lydia, 79 - 96 A.D.
|Other| |Lydia|, |Apollonis,| |Lydia,| |79| |-| |96| |A.D.|, Apollonis, Lydia, was located south of Apollonia in Mysia, on the river Cissus, a tributary of the Hyllus, 56 km from Pergamum, and the same distance from Sardis. It was named after the queen Apollonis, the mother of Eumenes II and Attalus II of Pergamum. It was mentioned by Cicero. In 17 A.D., it was destroyed by the great earthquake that destroyed twelve cities of Asia Minor. Tiberius rebuilt the city. It issued coins from the time of Domitian to Severus Alexander. The site of Apollonis is located near Mecidiye, Turkey.
