Sadly, Faustina died just two years into his 23 year reign. At his request, the Senate deified her, and he minted a massive series of commemorative coins in her honor.

Silver denarius, RIC III AP381b(a) (S); RSC II 159; BMCRE IV p. 44, AP298; Hunter II p. 252, 3; SRCV II 4592, EF, excellent portrait, flan a bit ragged with many small edge cracks, minor flan flaw below chin, Rome mint, weight 2.955g, maximum diameter 19.3mm, die axis 180o, 1st posthumous issue, 141 - 142 A.D.; obverse DIVA AVG FAVSTINA, draped bust right, hair elaborately waved and banded, drawn up at back and piled in a round coil at the top, tied and coiled with a strand of pearls; reverse CONCORDIAE (harmony), Antoninus on left, togate, standing right, scroll in his left hand, clasping right hands with Faustina, veiled, standing left, sort vertical scepter in her left hand; Numismatik Naumann, auction 62, lot 1105 (part of); scarce; SOLD
