Byzantine Empire, Leo VI, the Wise and Alexander, 6 January 870 - 11 May 912 A.D.
Alexander was the younger brother of Leo VI and co-ruler throughout the reign, but apparently he did not actually participate in the government at all. After Leo's death Alexander ruled for one year as senior emperor. He stopped paying tribute to the Bulgars which had serious consequences in the following years.
