This piece has lost more than a gram in weight (it is now down to the level of an Attic drachm) and very probably was buried towards the end of the 3rd century, surely after circulating on equal terms with the late reduced drachms.
SH70102. Silver drachm, Seltman Olympia pl. VIII, 12 (same reverse die), BCD Peloponnesos -, BMC Peloponnesus -, SNG Cop -, aF, Olympia mint, weight 4.327g, maximum diameter 17.5mm, die axis 180o, c. 452 - 432 B.C.; obverse eagle flying left with wings above his body, grasping hare by the back with his talons and tearing at him with his beak; flower to right above eagle's tail; reverse winged thunderbolt; ex BCD with his tag; ex Leu Numismatik auction 90 (10 May 2004 ), lot 51; very rare; SOLD
