Byzantine Empire, Theodosius III of Adramyttium, May 715 - 24 July 717
In May 715, after a six-month siege, Theodosius III, a tax-collector from the theme of Opsikion (Anatolia) and his troops took Constantinople. Anastasius II was forced to abdicate the throne and retired to a monastery in Thessaloniki (Macedonia).SH68160.
