Following this victory, the Huns plundered parts of eastern Persia for two years bringing chaos to the kingdom. They exacted heavy tribute for some years thereafter. Peroz I tried again to drive out the Hephthalites, but on the way to Herat, he and his army were trapped by the Huns in the desert. Peroz I was killed, and his army was wiped out.
