Eastern Indo-Greek Kingdom, Apollodotos I Soter, c. 174 - 165 B.C.
Apollodotos was an associate king of Eucratides and colleague of Menander. He ruled the provinces south of the Hindu Kush. Mitchiner lists these mint monograms for the drachm but not for the hemidrachm.BB65962. Silver hemidrachm, Mitchiner IGIS II, p. 117, Type 208 var. (monograms); Lahiri 3; cf. Mitchiner IGIS II, p. 116, Type 207i (same monograms, drachm), HGC 12 118 (R2), gVF, dark toning, Jammu(?) mint, weight 1.119g, maximum diameter 14.68mm, die axis 0o, c. 174 - 165 B.C.; obverse BAΣIΛEΩΣ AΠOΛΛOΔOTOY ΣΩTHPOΣ, elephant standing right, monogram below; reverse Kharosthi legend: maharajasa apaladatasa tratarasa (great king Apollodotos the savior), humped bull standing right, monogram below; very rare; SOLD
